Opposition

An opposition can be filed against granted European patents at the European Patent Office within nine months of grant. Opposition represents the possibility in one procedure of testing the validity of a patent , which can in principle be declared valid in all contracting states of the European Patent Convention.

It is possible to monitor patent rights applied for by your competitors. In this way you are aware in good time of when your competitor has obtained a patent, and you could take action if necessary.
